The Northwest XL comes with the widest nailing zone in the industry. Called "The Zone", it is a Patented new way to build laminated shingles. At three times the normal width of lap and nailing zone, and with its unique tapered lap area, the increase in quality and reliability is phenomenal compared to virtually all other manufacturers laminated shingle products.

New for 2004 is the new version of Northwest XL called ScotchGuard Northwest XL "AR". These shingles now carry a percentage of Copper Granules mixed in throughout the granules to help prevent or resist Algae stains on the roof. 3M Corp provides a warranty up to 15 years against this algae growth, so your roof stays looking newer longer. Great value for less than $0.10 more per square ft compared to regular Northwest XL. Available in Natural Wood, Weathered Wood, Storm Grey, and Midnite Black.
