Of course price always is one of the issues the consumer is concerned
with, but more often they are looking for the best value. Value is not
always the lowest contract price. Instead it is the most effective
amount required to complete the job to the satisfaction of the client,
to the level of workmanship required, for the type of materials being
used, factoring in the complexity of the roof, the desired architectural
look, and the after-completion service preferred by the consumer.
Its up to you to prove the value you are bringing to the table. With
no other information at hand the consumer may think that price is the
only way to compare bids. But we all know that "price" selection led to
"Leaky Condo Crisis". Those leaky buildings were created by selecting
contractors on price alone, and not on the value of craftsmanship and/or
material selection and assembly.
Our referral service has been working successfully for years already.
We assist homeowners in finding qualified contractors to install the
roofing materials they have chosen at our Ultimate Roofing Showroom.
They are looking for good value by finding quality roofing materials to
protect their home, and want someone to complete their project in a
worry-free "all-taken-care-of" fashion.
We match qualified contractors with these homeowners by judging which
"Good Guys" would be best to bid the type of materials chosen from our
selection, in the area in which this homeowner's roof is to be
installed. We give two referrals for each job so that competitive bids
can be compared. Any more, and it may be a waste of your valuable time,
so we try to discourage homeowners from getting too many bids.
What we do try to achieve is apples versus apples bidding. To achieve
this we often make a short list or specification of what materials and
accessories have been chosen for this project. That way each contractor
is bidding on the same materials and accessories, at the same cost per
unit, and need not get into too many details with the homeowner ... the
job has already been specified.
We may have spent quite some time with the homeowner already
discussing architectural style, colours, textures, and roof-scaping
appearance. We ask that if the homeowner has chosen certain styles of
shingles, with High Definition Ridge-Venting under High Profile capping,
or the Built-In gutters are being replaced with EPDM installed with
required sealing tapes and glues, that you do not try to talk the
homeowner out of such details, but rather bid the work as specified. In
the time we have spent with the homeowner, we have all determined what
needs the homeowner has judged is necessary or prefers to have
completed.
Of course, with your eyes on the specific project at the time of the
estimate, you may see more or different details needed to complete the
job with better practice or material accessories, and we all welcome
your input ... you are of course one of the experts in our industry. But
in order to keep the bids comparative we ask that on our referrals you
offer these changes as an optional "extra" or optional "deletion". This
way the homeowner is getting what they have requested at our showroom,
where possible, and they can choose the contractor providing them the
best effective value comparing their services, professionalism, years in
business, follow-up service, references, the contractor's bid, but most
importantly .... their craftsmanship.
This referral service has made our team of referred contractors very
busy, and they are getting backed up with work. Therefore we are
searching out for new members of our exclusive club of qualified

To become a member of our Contractor Referral Program, and
continue to receive referrals from us, the following are some of the
criteria we use to choose members:
 | Must have a good
reputation in the roofing community. |
 | Must not have had
repeated complaints from homeowners. |
 | Have installers
that are fully qualified to install the types of roofing materials
specified in the referral. |
 | Should have an
open and active charge account with All Weather Products, and the
account is to be kept current. |
 | Have a positive
working relationship with All Weather Products. |
 | Must have WCB
coverage, which is in good standing, and Company to have general
liability insurance. We expect our referral contractors to show
valid WCB insurance numbers for proof when requested by any
consumers. |
 | Must be
responsive with immediate follow-up on any All Weather Products
referrals. |
 | Show All Weather
Products's offered roofing selections when quoting on referred sales
contacts. |
 | On referrals
which are successfully bid and become a roof or re-roof project, the
contractor is to use All Weather Products as the supplier of all the
roofing materials, flashings, and accessories on the project. |
 | Follow any
written specifications provided on projects including specific
materials or accessories requested, and install all products
according to the manufacturers written instructions and/or the BC
Building Code, whichever is greater being the minimum standard. |
 | Don't try to
"down-grade" the product the consumer has selected unless the
consumer clearly wants a "cheaper" product, in which case select
from another of All Weather Products' materials. |
 | Be clearly
reciprocating other business to All Weather Products for being part
of our Contractor Referral Program. |
 | Notify All
Weather Products immediately whenever you're too busy to follow up
on one of our All Weather Products referrals. |
 | Be ready to give
references or job examples for consumers to contact if they request
further information. |
 | Use your best
crews when installing All Weather Products referred work. |
 | Once starting a
project work through steady on the project to complete the job as
efficiently as possible (weather permitting), and represent the
ultimate in professional conduct when on the jobsites. |
